The Rules of Halcyon

By joining Halcyon, you are agreeing to adhere to the rules stated below.

First violations of the rules will warrant a warning. After two warnings, a ban will be issued. In some extreme cases, an immediate ban will be issued.

Rules Concerning This Site and its Content:
- Any images or text from external sources MUST be credited to their rightful owner (If you quote from a book or site or use someone else's artwork) and it is essential that you obtain the owner's permission prior posting his/her work.
- All suggestions will be taken into consideration and implemented if deemed necessary, but any unreasonable demands will be ignored.
- The administator has the final say on all decisions concerning the rpg. Members will be allowed to give their input and they will taken into consideration.
- Members are prohibited from posting links to sites containing inappropriate content such as porn, cracks or other illegal content. Spamming is also not allowed (irrelevant or redundant posting) as well as inappropriate advertising. Links will be removed upon discovery and members will be issued a warning. Repeated offense will warrant a permanent ban.

Concerning Members
- What you choose to reveal on this site is your own responsibility. It is in your best interest to refrain from divulging personal details and information. Please do not give anyone your password as this gives the person to edit or delete any of your posts.
- All original material from members (rpg entries, original artwork, etc) is copyrighted to its creator.
- Most importantly, members are required to show each other respect. You may not harass or threaten other members. Disrespectful behavior, such as derogratory comments containing racism, homophobia, or foul language will not allowed. Please be respectful to all members, regardless of age or experience.

Duties of an Administrator and Moderators
Just as there as responsibilities for the members to uphold, there are for the administator and moderating team.:
- Enforcing the rules.
- Maintaining the board and site.
- Editing or deleting posts when necessary: situations include when a member has requested you to, or when you see a violation of the rules. Any edits will be marked.
- Keeping the board running smoothly, although I am not responsible for the rpg's downtime. If I know when the site will be down, I will try to let you know. This site is hosted on an external server which is subject to infrequent downtimes.

Registration
- You must read the rules and all information pages on Halcyon prior to filling an application.
- Your application must be approved before you are allowed to post on the board - I am online a lot, so it shouldn't be very long.
- This rpg is open to all audineces, but please do not join if you are offended by violence, strong language, or mature subjects. There is no technical age limit -- if you think you can handle it, by all means. But I won't be held accountable for you if you find out you don't like the subject matter. To be safe, consider this a 13+ board.

Gameplay
- You may only control your own characters.
- Please speak in the 3rd person only (when posting in stories that is). Your post should look like this
He walked down the street and saw his friend. "Hello," he greeted. (only more interesting)
and not this
*walks down street. sees friend* hello.
- No godmodding. Godmodding is when you make your character practically invincible and all-powerful, which is unfair for other players, boring, and makes people want to kill you even though they can't.
- No killing of other characters unless that character has officially left the story and you have made an agreement with the member.
- Cursing is allowed when appropriate. Just don't let it get out of hand.
- As we cannot hear your voice, make your intentions clear.
- Sex is allowed, but not in a graphic sense. What I mean is, characters are allowed to have sex, but cut it off before it gets beyond what you'd see in, say, a PG13 movie.
- You don't need an admin's permission to start a story thread.
- Story threads can be solo or joined by other members. Please indicate accordingly in the first post.
- Currently, you are allowed to join in more than one story thread, but these stories must completely separate from each other. What happens in one story can't affect the other. This may be subject to change in future as I see how this works out.
- If you have no desire to complete a solo thread or no one has joined your thread for over a month, let a moderator know so they can delete it. Any thread without promising replies will ultimately be deleted after 6 weeks.
- Label all out of character comments in story threads will "OOC."
- ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING. Don't shout, unless your character is shouting.
- If you are responding in a long thread, specify to whom you are speaking when necessary.
- As they reflect upon you, please be mindful of your spelling, punctuation and grammar before posting.
- Do not spam the board. Please make your posts at least a few sentences long and delete repeated posts.

Character Creation
- You are allowed to have more than one character.
- You are not allowed to use premade characters from external sources, i.e characters from books, video games, or shows.
- You must submit a fresh application for each new character you make after joining.
- Each character must have their own profile.
- As far as NPC's are concerned, yes, you're allowed to make them, but they can't overpower the group of people you're with or be used to attack another character without their permission. Don't use an NPC someone else created without their permission first.
